Dakota Blue Richards is a London based actor.
She made her acting debut at age 12, starring alongside Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig as Lyra Belaqua in New Line’s film adaptation of Phillip Pullman’s 'The Northern Lights'.
At age 16 she joined the cast of Channel 4’s 'Skins' as popular character Franky Fitzgerald.
Her screen work includes 'The Secret of Moonacre', adapted from Elizabeth Goudge’s 'The Little White Horse', and Emmy award winner 'Dustbin Baby', as well as regular characters in prime time TV dramas such as 'Lightfields' and Gurinder Chadha’s 'Beecham House'.
In 2015, Dakota made her stage debut as Thomasina in Tom Stoppard’s 'Arcadia' (English Touring Theatre) and was well reviewed as both Stella Kowalski in Tennessee William’s 'A Streetcar Named Desire', and Geraldine Barclay in Joe Orton’s 'What the Butler Saw' (both Curve Leicester).
She has been nominated for two best actress awards for her role in 'Skins' and a multitude of awards, including a Saturn award, for her role in 'The Golden Compass'.
An avid reader, Dakota took up screenwriting during her time as WPC Shirley Trewlove in ITV’s Endeavour and finished writing her first feature film, 'Violent Delights', in early 2018. Her screenwriting work also includes short film Each Coming Night and television pilot Black Iris.
Dakota was most recently on stage opposite MyAnna Buring in 'Anthropology' at the Hampstead Theatre.
